Dental Checkups & Cleanings
Every six months, you and your family should plan to see our team for a regular dental checkup and cleaning. Not only will we use some of our advanced technologies to scan your smile and more easily detect problem areas, but we’ll also clear away harmful plaque and tartar so that your teeth feel smooth and clean when you leave. During this visit, we’ll also perform an oral cancer screening so that we can determine if abnormalities exist and require further testing.
Gum Disease Treatment
Bleeding and inflamed gums often mean the early stages of gingivitis are present. To keep this problem from worsening, we will recommend good oral hygiene habits at home and frequent dental cleanings. However, if the infection spreads, resulting in gum pockets, we will suggest gum disease treatment in the form of scaling and root planing. By removing the bacteria and smoothing the roots of your teeth, we can create a healthier environment for your gums to heal over time.
Fluoride Treatment
The use of natural fluoride is commonly recommended for children; however, adults can also benefit from this treatment, especially if you are prone to cavities. While you may brush with fluoridated toothpaste and drink tap water at home, it may not be enough to keep your teeth properly protected. With an additional fluoride treatment during a regular checkup, we can safeguard your smile from the buildup of plaque and tartar in between appointments.
Nightguards for Bruxism
Teeth grinding, which is also known as bruxism, can take a toll on your smile if proper treatment is not provided. TMJ and enamel wear and tear can occur, resulting in the need for more costly dental care in the future. Fortunately, with a custom nightguard created by our dental office, we can equip your teeth with a proper layer of protection. When worn at night, the device keeps your pearly whites from touching, alleviating any pressure on your jaw joints and preventing further damage to your enamel.
Sleep Apnea Treatment
Living with sleep apnea can be a problem for you and your partner, especially if you snore. The good news is that Dr. Mularczyk can alleviate your symptoms and improve your sleeping patterns with a customized oral appliance. Crafted to fit your teeth comfortably, it shifts your jaw forward just enough to prevent accidental blockage that might otherwise prevent air from flowing freely. Unlike other treatment options (i.e., CPAP), this method is small, user-friendly, and portable, so it makes traveling much easier.
